Review

Tradewinds 2 is the second edition of this series. The game develops in the past, the 1700 to be precise. It’s a game of a game of swashbuckling sea combat and trade. You can play a pirate or a merchant, and stake your claim in the Caribbean. In this game you will be fighting pirates, going on hundreds of tasks, trading goods in 20 different ports and sending fleet after enemy fleet to Davy Jones' locker.
You can play any of the six characters in Tradewinds 2. If you only see four characters, keep playing the other characters to unlock LaRoche, the pirate legend of the Caribbean or create your own character from scratch. Create your own character using a combination of Name, Gender, Race and Class. Customize your character to create your own adventure.
There are twenty port cities that you can visit in the game, ten for every time you play. Certain ports may not be discovered in the beginning of the game, and these are designated with a question mark. You can sail to any of the available ports, and locked ports are discovered after you complete a certain number of tasks for a governor in Story Mode. Each city has a distinct cultural identity, and a visually unique set of buildings where you can trade, manage your fleet, accept tasks, and handle all other aspects of running your businesses. You can only sail to ports that are discovered, which means that are not marked with a question mark.
When you first enter the game, you’ll see the welcome screen with the following options:
- Story Mode: Begins a new game in Story Mode. Discover new ports and uncover new goods as you progress.
- Free Trade Mode: Begins a new game in Free Trade Mode. Travel anywhere in the Caribbean and trade any good available in the game. Tasks and Governors are not available in this more, however.
- Continue: Loads your most recently played game
- Load Game: Loads a previously saved game
- Options: Shows the options menu
- Help: Launches the help pages
- Credits: Shows you the team that worked on Tradewinds 2.
- Exit to Windows: Closes the Game
You can try this game for 60 minutes before you buy the licensed version. If you like it, you can buy this game for only 19.95 dollars, right from the Oberon Media Game Center, on the Web.
